Lama Stéphane Offort

Born in the suburbs of Paris, Stéphane showed an early fascination for understanding how phenomena work. This curiosity led him to pursue studies in physics, fundamental physics, and astrophysics. He also took up martial arts, and it was in this context that he first encountered the Dharma during a seminar attended by Jigmé Rinpoche in early 1990s.

From that point onwards, Stéphane decided to engage more deeply, choosing to explore the mind, consciousness, and the relationship between the individual and their environment along this path.

Following his meeting with Gendun Rinpoche, he committed to undertake a three-year retreat at Dhagpo Kundreul Ling. After this initial retreat, he continued to practice in retreat for further twelve years at the Dhagpo Kagyu Ling lay retreat centre, established by Gendun Rinpoche. Throughout these years, he also taught at the three-year retreat centre, always under the guidance of Lama Henrik and Lama Walli.

He has received numerous teachings and transmissions from several great masters of the lineage, including His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorje, Shamar Rinpoche, Beru Khyentse Rinpoche, Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche, Sabchu Rinpoche, and Jigme Rinpoche.

At the request of Beru Khyentse Rinpoche, he is currently teaching at the Khyenkong (Khyentse-Kongtrul) centres of the Karma Kagyu lineage in Poland and Hungary. He continues this activity under the guidance of His Eminence Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche.

He also teaches in other countries, both in person and online. His open approach, excellent teaching skills, and extensive practical experience in meditation make the Dharma accessible to Western audiences.
In addition, he is a certified mindfulness instructor and has made meditation more accessible to a broad public by leading numerous courses, retreats, weekends, and themed workshops in France, Germany, Czech Republic, and Poland.
