7 points of mind training – Lojong

The practice of lojong (Tib. བློ་སྦྱོང་, Wylie: blo sbyong) belongs to the Mahayana tradition. It originated in India around 900 AD as a compendium of instructions and practices, and was introduced to Tibet by Atisha. More than 150 years later, with the teachings of Geshe Chekawa Yeshe Dorje, it became widespread as the Seven Points of Mind Training and was taught publicly.
Lojong is very often translated as “mind training”.
Through practices rooted in ultimate and relative bodhicitta, one purifies the veils of ignorance and emotional afflictions, realizes the freedom of the selfless state, and engages in the vast compassionate activity of bodhisattvas.
This path of uprooting ego-centered mindset and actions has been highly praised over time by many important awakened masters.
The lojong practice is complete, bringing together the practices of shamatha and vipashyana, and the path of compassionate activity. It is entirely relevant to our daily lives, allowing us to walk in the footsteps of the great bodhisattvas and masters of the past, present, and future.
This course will be based on the work of the first Jamgon Kongtrul Lodro Thaye, who wrote a precise, clear, and to-the-point commentary that gives us the opportunity to understand the meaning of these rare and precious teachings and how to put them into practice in our daily lives.
